Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has released Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JTET/JHTET) 2026 notification for eligibility to teach Classes 1-8 in government schools. Online applications started 21 April 2026 and close 21 May 2026 at jac.jharkhand.gov.in/jac/.

1) Child Development & Teaching Methods

  • Child Development:
    • Concept of development, domains (physical, cognitive, social, emotional).
    • Principles of development, age‑stages (early childhood, middle childhood, adolescence).
    • Role of heredity & environment, individual differences, IQ & intelligence (basic concepts).
  • Learning & Pedagogy:
    • Meaning & types of learning (classical, operant, social learning, etc.).
    • Piaget, Kohlberg, Vygotsky, Bronfenbrenner – basic ideas (Piaget stages, Vygotsky’s ZPD, etc.).
    • Different learning styles, learner‑centred pedagogy, inclusive education, CWSN, disability & education.
  • Teaching & Assessment:
    • Concept of teaching, teaching‑learning process, classroom management.
    • Assessment: formative & summative, continuous & comprehensive evaluation (CCE), qualities of a good teacher.

2) Language‑I (Hindi/Urdu + English)

Hindi / Urdu (if opted)

  • Reading Comprehension (short passage + questions).
  • Pedagogy of language teaching (language acquisition, stages of language development).
  • Language learning & teaching (methods, activities, language laboratories, multilingual classroom issues).

English

  • Reading Comprehension.
  • Grammar (tenses, subject‑verb agreement, basic sentence structures).
  • Vocabulary (synonyms, antonyms, basic idioms, one‑word substitutions).

3) Language‑II (Regional Language – Typically Bengali / Santhali / Odia, etc.)

  • Reading Comprehension in regional language.
  • Basic grammar & vocabulary (noun, verb, tense, sentence formation).
  • Language‑pedagogy based questions (how to teach regional language at primary level).

4) Mathematics (Paper‑1 & 2 Core)

  • Whole numbers, fractions, decimals, basic operations.
  • Number system (HCF, LCM, divisibility, prime numbers).
  • Geometry (shapes, lines, angles, basic Mensuration – area, perimeter, volume of simple solids).
  • Data Handling (pictographs, bar graphs, basic statistics).
  • Algebra (simple expressions, patterns, basic equations).
  • Word problems (time & work, age, ratio‑proportion, mixture, percentage, profit‑loss, simple interest).

5) Environmental Studies (EVS – Paper‑1)

  • Family & Friends (relationships, emotions, social values).
  • Food & Nutrition, Clothes, Housing, Travel & Safety.
  • Plants & Animals (classification, adaptation, basic life processes).
  • Human Body: basic organs & functions (digestive, respiratory, circulatory, nervous).
  • Work, Life & Leisure (occupations, skills, traditions).
  • Games & Sports, Strengths‑Weaknesses, likes‑dislikes.
  • Our environment (air, water, land, pollution), solar system, weather & climate basic ideas.

6) Paper‑2 – Subject‑specific (Maths & Science / Social Studies)

Maths & Science (for Maths & Science Teachers)

  • Maths: Same as above, plus advanced algebra, geometry, trigonometry basics, probability & statistics (mean, median, mode, bar‑graph, pie‑chart, pictograph).
  • Science:
    • Physics: motion, force, work‑energy, light, magnetism, sound – basic level.
    • Chemistry: states of matter, elements, compounds, mixtures, acids‑bases, salts, basic periodic table.
    • Biology: cell structure, tissues, plant & animal nutrition, reproduction, health & disease, environment & biodiversity basics.

Social Studies (for SST Teachers)

  • History: Ancient, Medieval, Modern Indian history (industrial, cultural, scientific, political – basic level).
  • Geography: Earth, continents, India’s physical & political map, climate, rivers, resources, population.
  • Civics: Constitution, rights & duties, democracy, Panchayati Raj, local self‑government, basic governance structure.
